Healthy McMuffin Egg

Everyone knows the McMuffin Egg from McDonalds. And nearly everyone loves it. What many don’t know is that one McMuffin is 300 calories! That is really a lot considering the fact that you won’t be satisfied from one McMuffin (me personally I eat at least 3). So I realised it’s my job to create a healthy version. As you probably guessed it was not very hard. An english muffin, an egg, one slice of ham (instead of bacon) and one slice of low fat cheese (instead of normal fat cheese). Surprisingly, when you make the McMuffin yourself, it has way less calories. The taste is exactly, and I mean really exactly the same. Try it yourself!

To shape the egg the ways McDonalds does you don’t need a special mould. You can create one yourself with something I bet you have at home right now. Aluminium foil! Shape it into a circle as shown in the picture.

Ingredients

  • 1 english muffin
  • 1 egg
  • 1 slice of ham
  • 1 slice of low fat cheese
  • aluminium foil

Instructions

  1. Toast the muffins.
  2. Form the aluminium foil as showed.
  3. Heat some oil in a pan and place the Selfmade mould in the middle. Fry the egg in the mould.
  4. Fry the slice of ham until crispy.
  5. Open up the muffin and fill with egg, cheese and ham. The cheese will melt because of the heat of the egg and the ham.
  6. Enjoy!
